“Hmmm,” (Name) looked at the list she made for herself. It was a simple list of things she had to do today. “Maybe...No,” She scribbled out one of the words and let out a huff.
She had a busy day planed, mostly to do things she really just didn’t need to do! But with the holiday season over, it was time to spend all her gift card money. But on the other hand, she could have just done this all on another day, but that was highly unlikely for the girl.
But on the other hand, her phone started to ring so she pulled it from her pocket and gave a cheery, “Hello!”
“Hello (Name)!” It was Ivan, a good friend of hers. Actually, a longtime friend for many years now.
“Hia Ivan! What’s up,” She looked back to her list as she listened. She scribbled out another thing she planned to do.
“I was wondering if you would be doing anything today?” The Russian asked. It seems today he was free, which didn’t happen as often as you would think.
You see, the two friend were in college now and they’re schedules just didn’t match up anymore. Although they still kept in contact as much as they could. And many people, almost everyone wondered why such a sweet girl like (Name) was friends with someone like Ivan.
Simple, they grew up together. She wasn’t oblivious to his rather harsh, cold and scary side. She saw it a lot and she didn’t mind it at all. Like once before, back in high school, someone tripped (Name) causing her to fall to the ground and drop all her things.
Wither it was they meant to trip her or not didn’t matter. Ivan saw that they just completely ignored what they did and kept walking on. So he went over to them, and gave them this childish sweet smile while saying horrible, disturbing things. Seconds later they came back over and help (Name) pick up her things, and apologized. For the rest of the day, they carried her things around for her from class to class.
So she didn’t mind his dark side because he never was mean to her. If he truly cared about someone, she learned, he was rather nice, kind, sweet and protective over those important to him. She even liked him a bit more than she should. But she ignored that as much as she could.
Anyways, retuning back to (Name), she thought about how she could free up her day to spend time with her friend. “Hmmm, well I’ve got a busy day today. You wouldn’t mind if I did a few things first would you?”
“It would not be a problem at all. What do you have to do?” He asked. She gave a shrugged, be realized he wasn’t there.
“Well, for now, I just need to do some shopping for things here and there. You know little things, books, movies and such. Nothing big,” She added some other things to her list, and switch the phone to her other ear.
But it was agreed that they’d meet up on Main Street in town in an hour. She was glad to spend some time with her friend. She hasn’t really seen him for a while now with the holidays and all.
She was bundled up all warm and cozy in a long (F/c) coat and a fluffy hat on her head. She was soon greeted by Ivan not to long after she got there. Even if it was a little cold out, they didn’t mind. She ran up to her friend and greeted him with a hug.
“I’m sorry to drag you along with me,” She apologized pulling away.
But Ivan gave her a warm smile and shook his head, “It is fine, (Name). I like spending time with you anyways so it is no problem,” He was always so quick to forgive and forget.
She gave him a smile and a nod of her head, “Well aright then! Let’s get started!” She grabbed his arm and pulled him along. “First I need to get some new books! I’m tired of reading the same thing!” And so, they were off!
And somehow, Ivan managed to convince (Name) to buy him four bottles of Vodka. When they were leaving the liquor store she gave out a laugh. So he turned to her with a small chuckling asking, “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing, nothing,” She gave a wave of her hand, “I just think it’s funny how much you like vodka, that’s all,”
“How can you not like it?” He asked with a smile. They started walking down the side walk again, heading down the large Main Street, filled with tiny shops and stores galore.
(Name) gave out a laugh with a halfhearted shrug, “I never said I didn’t like it!” She opened the bag and looked inside, pulling out one of the bottles of Vodka and handed to Ivan, “But you love it!”
Pleased, he took the bottle and un screwed the cap and took a short swig, “Yes I sure do,” They burst into little fits of laughter as they went on walking on the slightly snowy sidewalks.
Later that evening, after stopping at other stores (Name) decided she wanted to buy some new winter clothes. Seeing how the ones she had known where starting to get to small, and old for her. She was looking at a shelf when she noticed something.
Turning around with a giddy smile, she turned to Ivan who was looking out the stores window, watching people walk by with a childish smile. Every now and then he’d pull out the vodka bottle and take a swig. “Ivan!” He turned to look at the girl. “Look, I found a scarf just like yours! It’s it cute? We could match if we wanted to!” She held in her hands a matching light pink scarf like his own.
He let out a low chuckle and patted the top of the girl’s head. “How sweet,” He replied with a soft smile.
She shooed his hand away with a laugh. Suddenly an idea hit her, “Oh! Wait!” She ran back over to the other scarfs, putting it back and came back with another folded one. “Here, take of your scarf,”
He gave her a questioning look, his brows slightly knitted together. But did so anyways with slight hesitation. The girl walked over and stood on her tippy toes and wrapped this new scarf around him at one end, and it was long enough for her to warp the other end around her own neck.
“How about now?” She asked with a smile. “Now we can never get lost!” She joked.
Looking down at the lightly colored scarf, he gave a warm smile and slight nod of approval. “I like it. It makes you look cute and I like that we are tangled together,” This caused a slightly pink dust fall on the girl’s cheeks. But she gave a large smile anyways.
She started to pull the scarf off, not bothering to get it because she thought it’d just be a little funny joke. But Ivan stopped her, “You should get it (Name),”
“Da, it looks nice on you and I like it! I’ll even keep wearing it with you!” This caused another blush on her face as her eye lit up and she smiled.
“Okay! Thanks Ivan!” She glopped him in a thankful hug. “You really don’t mind?” She just had to make sure.
“Yeah, I don’t mind it. It’s very sweet (Name),” He pulled at one of the ends and looked at the small patterns that show up. “It’s a very nice scarf,” She went to take it off, so that she could pay for the large scarf, be he stopped her.
“No, I’d like to keep it on for now,” Ivan told the confused girl, “And I’ll pay for it,” He told her. When she started to object he stopped her again. “It is fine; I’d like to pay for it. You can say it’s a gift from me to you,”
“Hmm, alright. Oh, and here,” She gave him his original scarf and gathered her other things she bought earlier. A little later, they left the store wrapped cozy warm in a long scarf together all twined up.
The rest of the day, the spent sharing the oversized scarf that was big enough for two people. And a lot of strangers commented on how cute the two of them looked. But it was funny, when some of those people happened to be friends they knew. Both Ivan and (Name) laughed at the looks on their silly faces.
